Dr, Julius Koonce
CIMP President and Executive Director
Dr. Julius Koonce is a multifaceted entrepreneur and spiritual leader who has been serving as the Executive Director of Christians in the Marketplace (CIMP) since 200813. With over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience, Dr. Koonce provides chaplaincy services for small businesses, offering moral support, team building, and spiritual guidance to companies that desire to incorporate faith into their work environment.
His passion lies in transforming the marketplace through disciples who view their businesses and workplaces as ministries. Dr. Koonce believes that the modern mission field is the marketplace itself.
On a personal note, Dr. Koonce has been married to Tammy Koonce for over 30 years. They have a 23-year-old son named Ephraim, who is a graduate of North Carolina State University and is currently in his second year of medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
Executive Board
The ministry is deeply grateful for the invaluable service of our executive board, whose thoughtful input and expertise play a crucial role in shaping our work. We appreciate the time and dedication these board members bring to their roles, as their guidance is instrumental in helping us fulfill our purpose effectively.
Our board members are selected based on their wisdom, integrity, and reputation for following Christ in the marketplace. In addition, each member has agreed to the following:
- Attend at least 4 of the 6 meetings a year (in person or video/audio conference calls) and respond to occasional emails
- Serve as Ambassadors to help promote to ministries of CIMP
- Participate in annual CIMP Conference
- Assist with getting sponsorships or being a sponsor
- Provide direction and guidance for the management of CIMP
- All conferences/events/workshops are free to active advisory board members
- Free web and radio advertisement with awarded sponsorship(s)
- Recognition at all events and conferences
- You will be helping CIMP get the gospel to the Marketplace
- Discounted rate for Chaplaincy Course
- 2-year commitment with the keeping of Godly conduct
- Board members have the option to continue serving on the board after 2 years

Dr. Terence Chatmon (Chair)

From soda bottle recycling entrepreneur at the age of six to senior executive leader responsible for billions of dollars for The Coca Cola Company, Terence Chatmon has served in senior executive leadership roles with Johnson & Johnson, Citibank and Coca Cola. Terence is a transformational leader amongst senior executives and CEOs, and a successful entrepreneur. Terence has always been defined by his innovative strategic thinking and commitment to building leaders. He is best known as a change agent, and for building transformational, sustainable communities.

Tony is an independent certified Leadership Speaker, Coach, Teacher and Trainer with The John Maxwell Team. He greatly enjoys assisting individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations attain excellence in their personal and professional leadership pursuits. Additionally, Tony has served in ministry for over 27 years. He currently ministers as a Certified Corporate Chaplain to various companies in the Triad providing professional and spiritual employee care.
Barry Utesch (Secretary)
President, TCS
Graduating from UNC-Greensboro with a degree in Business Information and Support Systems combined with two summers selling door to door created a passion for helping small business to make the most of technology. Barry came to Christ shortly after graduation from college through the efforts of Christian Businessmen’s Committee. He started Total Computer Solutions in 1990 with the conviction that failure was not an option. With 4.3 million in sales and a staff of 25, TCS serves the small and medium sized business market in Central North Carolina.

Michelle A. Lewis is the Chief Executive Officer for Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine, Inc. (TAPM). Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine, Inc. (TAPM) is the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Guilford County with five, soon to be six offices in Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina. TAPM is the medical home to more than 16,000 residents in Guilford County from all walks of life and social economic statuses. As the CEO of TAPM, Michelle is known for her servant- leadership style, philanthropy, and ability to form and maintain quality teams. Michelle incorporates her personal beliefs of servanthood and advocacy in her daily work life. These beliefs motivate Michelle to get in the forefront of being a voice in the community with corresponding actions. Michelle’s passion for the underserved stems back as far as her healthcare career of over thirty years, with twenty-four of those years in Leadership and Management. Michelle’s community efforts have not gone unnoticed. She was awarded the Community Game Changer Award in 2019 by the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro and was most recently recognized and honored as one of the top twenty-five Outstanding Women in Business 2022 by the Triad Business Journal.
Dr. Antonia Richburg
Dr. Antonia Monk Richburg, President, and CEO of the United Way of Forsyth County, has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, including project management, grant management, community building, and strategic communications. She has a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from N.C. A&T State University, and a master's degree in public affairs with a concentration in nonprofit management and public personnel from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She also has a postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Duke University. In addition, Dr. Richburg attended seminary and is a licensed minister. Prior to joining the United Way, Dr. Richburg was the Vice President and Senior Program Officer for the Cone Health Foundation for 23 years, where she oversaw grant-making efforts addressing access to care, mental health, and substance abuse while leading the Foundation's work in diversity, equity, and inclusion. She currently serves on the UNC Greensboro School of Health and Human Sciences Board of Visitors, is the Immediate Past Chair of the Greensboro Housing Coalition Board of Directors and the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers Board of Directors, is a former member of the United Way of Greater Greensboro Board of Directors and their African American Leadership Affinity Group Advisory Council.
Emily Wilburn Andrews
Emily Wilburn Andrews is the majority owner of Wilburn Medical USA in Kernersville, NC. Her father, Rick Wilburn started Wilburn Medical USA in 1997 with a passion for medical supply sales and a hunger to exceed customer expectations. Emily went to college at Appalachian State University and graduated with a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Upon graduating from college, Emily spent four years in full-time Christian women’s ministry and then moved from San Antonio, Texas, back home to learn the business. Once settled, Emily purchased 51% of her father’s business and was named CEO. She now leads with her father daily as they work together to improve distribution in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Sherman Thurmond, originally from Jacksonville, NC, attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington on a combined athletic and academic scholarship, playing varsity soccer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Minor in Physics and completed his medical training at the Southern College of Optometry in 1989, followed by a residency in Ocular Pathology. In 1992, he and his wife founded Thurmond Eye Associates in Greensboro and launched Guilford Eye Center in 2001. They expanded by acquiring a practice in Burlington, NC, in 2003 and opened Thurmond Eye Center in Summerfield, NC, in 2016. A member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina State Optometric Society, Dr. Thurmond has served as Past President of the Triad Optometric Society. An avid triathlete, he enjoys boating, dirt bike riding, hunting, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and four children. Most importantly, he cherishes his faith in Jesus Christ.
